Maxine Eckert Smith

MIDLAND - Maxine Eckert Smith, 90 of Midland, died at her home on Jan. 1, 2021. Graveside Service was Jan. 6, at Resthaven Memorial Park with Pastor Andy Hill officiating.

She was born on Apr. 18, 1930, in Midland, to Gus and Opal Eckert. She graduated from Midland High School in 1948.

On Feb. 25, 1953, she married the love of her life, Durward (Smitty) Smith. She loved being a fulltime wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her son Mike Smith and wife Pam of Midland; grandsons Brandon Prather and wife Angela, Casey Smith and wife Mallory, Tanner Smith and girlfriend Kimberly Mize, Hunter Smith and girlfriend Mikaela Roberts, all of Midland, Patrick Prather and wife Memory, and Jacob Parker of Stanton, and Lucas Ruthberg of San Angelo; one granddaughter Marah Parker of Midland; great grandchildren Kasyn Smith, Emma Prather, Jaylee Cox, Swayde Duncan, Harper Smith, Kendall Smith, Aliza Parker, Arianna Parker, Abbygale Parker, Adam Parker, Alex Parker, Aliyah Lewis, Akaylah Lewis; brother Gus (Sonny) Eckert of Midland; sisters-in-law Carole Smith and Audrey Smith. She was also blessed with a bonus son, Scott Locklar and wife Janet of Midland.

She is preceded in death by her husband Durward Smith, daughter Monique (Parker) Ruthberg and grandson Will Parker.
