Cleta Belle Pike

FORT WORTH - Cleta Belle Pike died on Feb. 9, 2024. She was 81 years old. She was born on Sept. 4, 1942, in Cisco.

She lived most of her life in West Texas and raised a family in Garden City. Once her three children were in school, she attended Howard College and the University of Texas Permian Basin to obtain a B.A. in Sociology, with a minor in Elementary Education.

She was known for her strong work ethic and held positions at Hester's Office Supply, TG&Y and even obtained her real estate license before earning her college degree. After she received her teacher's certification in 1982, she spent several years teaching in Glasscock County ISD. She enjoyed her calling as an elementary school teacher for 20 years. She would often have former students approach her to tell her she was one of their favorite teachers. She loved developing her young students' minds and was proud of their accomplishments, even after they moved on from her classroom.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She loved God and had a gentle spirit. She adored children and being in their presence brought her so much joy. Many nieces and nephews, as well as friends, remember being welcomed into her home when they were children. Even though she led a modest life, she was always willing to provide for others. She also had a great love for animals, showing kindness and compassion, while prioritizing their care and showering them with affection. Most of the dogs she had in her lifetime found her or came from an animal shelter.

She was humble about her creative talents, but she had many. She was an excellent seamstress, making dresses for her young daughter. She also enjoyed painting still pictures with oil and watercolor after she retired. One of her favorite past times was reading. She would often finish a book within a few days.

She always valued family. In 2009, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas, to be closer to her immediate family. Being the second oldest of six children she was naturally loving, giving and generous. Her good nature and kind heart will be what people will remember most about her. She radiated warmth and had a tremendous impact on all those she encountered in her corner of the world. She was always willing to help others without any expectation. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her son Tony Pike; daughter Amber Dutton and husband Rob; grandson Jake Dutton; sister Patricia Thomas and husband Ken; and brother Leonard Sneed and wife Zonell. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her son Jarrett Pike; mother Mary Sneed; sister Reba Barber; brother Ramond Sneed; and sister Jewell (Marlene) Yoak.

Pallbearers are: Rob Dutton; Jake Dutton; Brent Thomas; Brian Thomas; Don Allen Yoak; and Tim Bates.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, February 16, 2024, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
