CHILDRESS - Gerry Dell Fuquay Anderson, 86, died peacefully on Feb. 21, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born the youngest of three on Nov. 11, 1937, to William Edward and Myrtle White Fuquay in Stanton.

After high school she went to Howard County Jr. College in Big Springs where she met Deroy Anderson.

He soon married her and swept her off to the community of Tokio where they started a family. In their 53 years of marriage they had four children, enjoyed a successful family business shipping watermelons all over the great state of Texas, endured the loss of a son, and left a lasting impression everywhere they went. She loved the Lord and her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

To pass the time she loved to play games, work on puzzles and crochet blankets. Those blankets are cherished possessions.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Deroy, and beloved son Todd Edward.

She is survived by her son Tony (Cheryl) of South Padre Island; daughter Teretha Jones (Guy) of Childress; daughter Tamya Cash (Tommy) of Childress; sisters Martha Cummings of Powell, Tennessee and Betty Butler of Stanton; sister-in-law Neda Faris of Lubbock; grandchildren Tiffany Anderson, Taryn Anderson Steele (Jonathan), Travis Anderson, Lacy Jones Leahy (Larry), Jessy Jones, Mackenzie Cash Wilson (Michael) and Madeline Cash Smith (Jakob). And her favorites, the great grandchildren: Levi, Jakob, and Lucas Steele, Todd and Max Leahy, Ava, Mariah, and Dreux Everage, and Brian and Audrey Wilson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date. If you would like to honor her legacy, please make a donation to your church or favorite charity.
