VEALMOOR - Rex Andrew Zant was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Vealmoor. He died on May 2, 2024. He was the sixth of seven sons born to Nathan and Zona Zant. He grew up in Vealmoor and attended school there up to the eighth grade and graduated from Ackerly High School in 1952. He served two years in the military. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ where he loved to lead singing and teach Bible Class. Rex, his six brothers, and their father were all farmers. When they all got together you could count on each brother giving his idea of the best way to farm, whether John Deere tractors or Farmall tractors were better, if you should drive a Ford pickup or a Chevy pickup, was a better to plant cotton solid or skip-row, and several other important topics. They did not use their inside voices for any of these conversations.
He married Patsy Adcock in 1954. She was 15 and he was 19. They were married for 69 years. He was always very generous to others. He helped support several Children's Homes, gave to the needy in Africa, helped two young women in Zimbabwe get college degrees, and many, many other things.
He is survived by his wife Patsy of Ackerly; son David and wife Connie of Ackerly; daughter Kelly Fellers and husband Bruce of Lubbock; son Scott and wife Michelle of Ackerly and his six grandchildren: Hollie Epperson and husband Travis of Lubbock, Cal and wife Davida of Lubbock, Ethan of Ackerly, Preston and wife Rachel of Ackerly, Layce Kalivoda and husband Brad of Lubbock, and Jason Fellers and wife Kameron of Lubbock. Rex had 12 great grandchildren, Cy, Lila, Millie, Joey, Hattie, Maddox, Paxton, Harper, Barrett, Mollie, Henley, and Tatum. He loved going to all their school activities.
He was preceded in death by two sons Richard and Nathan, his parents, and five brothers.
