Rose Schwatrz

Rose Marie (Kadlacek) Schwartz, 92, of Garden City, passed away Dec. 3, 2025. She lay in-state on Dec. 7, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring, with family visitation that same afternoon.

Rosary was recited Dec. 9, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass was celebrated that same morning at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment followed at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery.

Rose was born March 11, 1933 in Westphalia, to William Louis and Elizabeth (Reinders) Kadlacek.

Mom was a praying woman, loved Jesus and prayed for her children till the day she died. She graced everyone with her beautiful smile. She loved to play dominoes and dance the night away with Joe to polka music. She loved to travel, tend her garden and care for her family. She always had a meal ready for whoever might be at her house and loved cooking for everyone with a happy heart. But most of all, she loved to be with her family and spoil her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Ernest “Ernie” Schwartz (Debra), Floyd Schwartz (Martha), Joe David “Jody” Schwartz (Gail), Brenda Holik (Eddie, Jr.), and Lynette Jansa (Mitchell); grandchildren, Galen Schwartz (Kristin), Justin Schwartz (Amy), Kyle Schwartz (Annette), Nicole Tan (Brent), Kamie Hamilton (Jeff), Chelsea Petty (Justin) Cole Schwartz (Emilee), Shelby Huseman (Riley), Eddie “Trey” Holik, III (Amanda), Elizabeth Odom (Christopher), Marla Halfmann (Jesse), Marcus Halfmann (Amy), Michelle Chastain (Chase), Chasity Oakes (Juston), and Leslie Robbins (Kyle); 32 greatgrandchildren; son-in-law, Lynn Halfmann (Jerri); sister, Elsie Hirt; brother-in-law, George Schwartz (Doris), and Erwin Schwartz; sister-in-law, Bernice Matthiesen, Leona Kadlacek, and Ann Schwartz; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many special friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joe” Calvin Schwartz; daughter, Mary Kay Halfmann; parents, William Louis and Elizabeth (Reinders) Kadlacek; greatgranddaughter, Abigail Rowan Schwartz; siblings, Louis Kadlacek, Raymond Kadlacek, James Kadlacek; brother-inlaws and sister-in-laws, Daniel Hirt, Victor Matthiesen, John and Genevieve Schwartz, Gloria Schwartz, Alfonse and Ruby Schwartz, Alfred Schwartz, Walter and Dorothy Schwartz and Laddie and Beatrice Socha.
