CAMERON - Jerry H. Bethell, 81 of Cameron, died Jan. 16, 2026, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 pm Jan. 24, at the First Methodist Church in Cameron. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron. Visitation will be 1 pm until service time in the First Methodist Church Sanctuary.
Coach Bethell, a retired educator and coach, was born Oct. 8, 1944 in San Jose, CA, to William Harold and Euna Lee (Long) Bethell. He married Peggy Speir on June 5, 1965. Jerry began is career in education in Stanton. He continued to San Saba, Llano, and retired in Cameron, as a dedicated Cameron Yoeman. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Cameron.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Bethell of Cameron; daughter Michelle Bethell Bennett of Cameron; son Craig Bethell and wife Marlana of Joshua; brother Richard Bethell and wife Janie of Georgetown; sisters-in-law Patti Purser and husband, Bob Purser, Carolyn Bethell Morris of Georgetown, Lori Spier of Lizella, GA; grandchildren Michael Evan, his wife, Kaley, and great-grandchildren, Rhett and Cove, Bailly Evan and his wife, Kalie, Carson Bethell, Rylan Bethell, and Kyndall Bethell.
Along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of former athletes whom he treated as his own.
