LUBBOCK – Stanton diver Ethan Coronado competed at the Region 1-5A Diving Championships last week in Lubbock. The final point tally had Coronado third, missing qualifying for the state meet by one place.

STERLING CITY – The Grady Junior High boys basketball team had a stellar performance Monday night crushing the Sterling City Eagles. Both teams opened the game with four points but Grady turned up the heat in the second quarter to leap ahead 14-6.

District woes continue for Lady Buffs

STANTON – The Stanton High School girls’ basketball teams battled Reagan County and Coahoma in crucial basketball games that had playoff implications. The Lady Buff’s varsity took on Reagan County last Tuesday in a thrilling contest from start to finish Stanton took control of the game early with a 15-7 run but Reagan County battled back in the second quarter to cut the lead to 22-21 at halftime.

STANTON – It was an up and down week for the Stanton Buffaloes as both the varsity and junior varsity teams split their district games with their opponents. Last Tuesday, the varsity boys had a sluggish third quarter which led to a 42-28 loss to Reagan County.

Grady clips Bearkats 33-30; playoff hopes dashed with loss

GARDEN CITY – The Grady Wildcats picked up a much-needed district victory last Friday on the road in Garden City but a loss Tuesday night to Borden County ended the Wildcats playoff hopes. A fast start gave the Wildcats a 12-2 lead before Garden City trimmed the advantage to 20-15 by halftime.

Junior high Buffaloes play Crane over the weekend

STANTON – Stanton’s junior high teams were in action last weekend against the Crane Golden Cranes. The seventh-grade girls had an exciting game that started with an 11-3 run by Crane.

STANTON – Stanton’s two junior varsity teams were one point away from a perfect week but had to settle for three victories out of four games. The junior varsity girls first game was a stunning 48-0 shellacking of Odessa Compass.
