Local all-distract teams announced

- With this year’s basketball season coming to a close, the all-district teams for the local schools have been announced. Below are the lists of athletes from Stanton, Grady, and Garden City that earned spots on their respective all-district teams.

Grady High School OAP advances to bi-district round

- Grady ISD hosted the District OAP contest on Mar. 3. Attending were Dawson County, Borden County, Sands, and Grady The Wildcats’ cast and crew performed A Storm in the Barn, adapted by Eric Cable.The teams advancing to Bi-District are Grady, Borden County, and Sands.Bi-District will be Mar.

Grady golf teams bring home lots of gold

- The Grady girls and boys golf teams won the Garden City Golf Tournament held at Ratliff Ranch Golf Course in Odessa on Feb. 24.The Lady Cats winning team total was 412 strokes. Junior Audrey Marler was the individual tournament champion shooting a 74.

– The Lady Bearkats basketball season came to an end on Tuesday night after losing to the Eula Lady Pirates in the Class A Regional Semi-Final at the Junnell Center at Angelo State University.Garden City controlled the scoreboard early in the first quarter building a 7-3 lead.

- It's playoff time, and No. 13 Garden City had no trouble in the first round. The Lady Kats breezed past Eden in the Class 1A Bi-District playoff game at Lake View’s Ben Norton gym in San Angelo on Monday.The Lady Kats started the game blazing hot with a 17-0 run.

– The Garden City Bearkats had a super slow start to the district basketball season, but during the season round of play something clicked and the Bearkats were able to clinch a playoff berth with a win over Bronte last week.

– Stanton’s Powerlifting season is well underway and the Lady Buffs teams have already had some great success while the Buffs are climbing the standings.The season started on Jan. 11 with the Lady Buffs traveling to Brownfield.The Lady Buffs finished fourth in the team standings.

ANDREWS – The Grady golf season started last week with the Andrews Girls Golf Classic on Feb. 7 and 8.Audrey Marler and Aislynne Mendoza wre the two Lady Cats that competed in the tournament.Marler finished in 5th place shooting a 75 on day one and an 81 on day two.

Wildcats end season with big win over Dawson

– The Grady Wildcats basketball season came to an end on Tuesday night with a blowout victory over Dawson County. Grady will miss the playoffs this year following a loss to Loop last Friday.“Loop was the game that we had to win to have a chance for the post season,” said Grady coach Chris Short.
