FORSAN –The Stanton football team came from behind to slip by Forsan in the Battle of the Buffaloes on Friday night for a 37-36 victory at Forsan Forsan (0-3) led 30-22 in the third quarter before Stanton (2-1) took a 37-30 lead into the fourth quarter.

Garden City suffers first loss of season

ACKERLY – Six-Man DII No. 5-ranked Sands handed DI No. 20 Garden City its first loss of the season, 63-38, in Friday’s non-district game at Mustang Field in Ackerly.

GRADY – No matter what the Grady Wildcats tried defensively, they could not find an answer for Midland Trinity’s ground game and suffered their first loss of the season. Trinity’s Jude Varner scored nine touchdowns to lead his team to a 78-44 victory over Grady at M.W. Tunnell Field on Friday night.

Parker, Cearley lead Grady teams

LUBBOCK - The Grady XC teams competed in Lubbock this past weekend at the LCU Invite.The Varsity Lady Cats finished 9th out of 39 teams. Emma Parker was the top finisher for the Lady Cats finishing 24th.The Junior High Lady Cats finished 6th out of 39 teams.

Buffaloes hit first bump in the road

STANTON – Two weeks into the new football season, Stanton is 1-1 with a first week win over Crane and a week two loss to Wink.Last week against Wink, the Buffaloes were not consistent on offense allowing Wink to take control of the game and run away with a 4926 victory.

LOOP – The No. 18 Grady Wildcats overcame a slow start to beat Loop and improve to 2-0 on the season.Neither team was able to get in the endzone in the first quarter and it wasn’t until Grady got a safety in the second quarter that any points were put on the scoreboard.

Bearkats stifle the Swifts in season opener

JAYTON – No. 18 Garden City opened the season over the weekend with a huge victory over the Nazareth Swifts the Grid Iron Classic in Jayton on Saturday. The Bearkats defense came up big multiple times and the offense used big plays to stun the Swifts.
