FORSAN– The Grady junior varsity boys played in the Forsan Tournament last week and had a good performance against Forsan on Tuesday. Grady opened the Forsan Tournament against their neighbors to the south the Stanton Buffaloes.

Junior high Lady Kats place second at Garden City Tournament

GARDEN CITY- The Garden City Lady Kats Junior High Basketball team has been busy this winter battling in a great District. With two games and a tournament left, the Lady Kats have a 5-5 record.

Griffin’s 22 points lead Wildcats to victory over Wellman-Union

WELLMAN– Samantha Griffin paced the Lady Wildcats with 22 points to push Grady past Wellman-Union in a District 8-1A game last Friday. Griffin knocked down three three-pointers and was almost perfect from the foul line shooting 7 of 8.

Lady Kats down Bronte for big district win

BRONTE– No. 19 Garden City picked up a big road win over Bronte in District 11-1A play on Friday. Garden City outscored Bronte 15-6 in the first quarter and held a 24-18 halftime advantage.

STANTON– The Stanton Lady Buffs continue to be one of the top teams in District 4-3A and are set to make the state playoffs with a couple more victories. Stanton has won three of their last four games and are sitting third in the district standings. On Jan. 5, Stanton took on Presidio.

All three Lady Kats teams pick up wins

– It was a big week for the Garden City Lady Bearkats basketball progam as all three teams picked up wins. The junior high Lady Kats took on Veribest late last week. Garden City opend up a 15-11 halftime lead and went on to win 26-20.

– Grady’s junior high boys’ basketball teams had a great week bringing home two tournament titles and then beating Klondike. The junior high B team started the winning streak with two wins at the Garden City Tournament on Jan. 13.

Varsity Wildcats split their first two district games

– Grady opened district play this week with a road trip to Loop and a home game with Sands. Against Loop, Grady had two miserable quarters and a phenominal two and managed to return home with the victory. The Wildcats looked unbeatble in the first half building a double digit lead.

Junior High Lady Cats finish second in Bearkat Klassic

- The Grady Junior high girls’ teams traveled to Garden City this past weekend and played in the Garden City Junior High Tournament. The Grady Gold team finished in second Place. The Gold team defeated Sterling City in the first game and lost to Sands in the championship.

Bearkats hold on to beat Mustangs 45-44

– No. 20-ranked Garden City Bearkats held on late to slide by Sands for a nondistrict win on Friday. The Bearkats started the game with a 10-6 run and built a 24-17 halftime lead, The Mustangs made a big run in the third quarter to make it a one-possession game at 33-32.
