Junior High Buffaloes fall to Odessa Compass

- Stanton’s seventh grade boys basketball team took on a talented Odessa Compass Cougars team on Dec. 7. Both teams started slow with Odessa taking a slim 4-2 lead after the first quarter and managed to bump its advantage of 10-7 by halftime.

Junior High Lady Cats struggled early in the week

It was a struggle Monday evening for the Lady Wildcat’s junior high teams as the hosted Sands. Grady’s B team played really well for three quarters and outscored the Lady Mustangs in two of them, but Sands had a huge second quarter to steal a road win 18-- 12.

Stanton Junior High girls on a roll with two big wins

– Stanton’s junior high girls continue to impress with several high scoring wins. Most recently the Lady Buffs took on the Crane and Odessa Compass. Against Odessa Compass, only the A teams were in action as Compass was not able to field B teams.

Wildcats perform well at weekend tournament

– The Grady Wildcats had a good weekend but came up three points shy of a spectacular weekend at the Tahoka Tournament. “This was a great tournament for us. We got to see different styles of basketball and I was very proud of all the kids,” said Grady coach Chris Short.

Lady Cats go 3-2 over the weekend

- The Grady Varsity girls played in the O.W. Follis Tournament in Lamesa this past weekend. The Lady Cats went 3-2 in the tournament, falling to New Deal and Colorado City on Thursday then winning the next three games to finish up the tournament.

Wildcats best Golden Cranes by double digits

– The Grady Wildcats hosted the much larger Crane Golden Cranes, but the little brother Wildcat’s proved to be the better team securing a double-digit victory.

Garden City crushes Sterling City 44-26

– The Garden City high school girls took on the Sterling City Lady Eagles week. The varsity Lady Cats had a stellar start with a 15-7 run and held a 22-14 halftime lead.

6-man rivals split games on Monday

- The rivals were back at it last week with the Grady and Sands junior high teams splitting the two contests. The A game was a close contest each quarter. Sands won three quarters while Grady won one which added up the a Mustangs 33-22 victory.

Coahoma just too much for Grady varsity and junior varsity Lady Cats

– Grady’s varsity and junior varsity girls’ basketball teams traveled to Coahoma last Tuesday. “Our junior varsity got off to a slow start and didn’t do a great job of handling their pressure,” stated Grady coach Jym Dennis. Coahoma opened the game with an 8-1 run and led 17-3 at halftime.

– The junior high Lady Kats were on fire Monday night beating the Blackwell Hornets by double digits. Garden City opened the game with a 13-6 run and stretched the advantage to 2716 by halftime.
