STANTON - The Stanton High School One Act Play will have a community performance of this year's production, Taking Leave, by Nagle Jackson. The performance is scheduled for Mar. 2, at 7 pm, in the Stanton High School Auditorium. The district contest will be Mar. 4 in Clyde.

Hunt, Quaid exchange vows on new year's eve in Lubbock

LUBBOCK - Faith Hunt, daughter of Lance and Regenia Hunt of Tarzan, married Joshua Quaid, son of Robert and Ann Quaid of Stanton on Dec. 31, 2019 in a ceremony at Bella Vie Venue and Event Center in Lubbock. Following their magical night the couple enjoyed a Caribbean cruise for their honeymoon.

Midwestern State announces 2019 December graduates

WICHITA FALLS - Local students graduated from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, in December 2019. MSU Texas awarded degrees to 485 undergraduate and graduate students. Honor graduates receiving bachelor degrees included 47 summa cum laude, 53 magna cum laude, and 44 cum laude.

Area gins wrap up cotton ginning season

WEST TEXAS - Christmas and New Years have come and gone and so has the ginning season for several cotton gins in the area. Four gins have reported final numbers, two are not returning phone calls, one never opened for ginning and three others are still pumping out bales.

Shigellosis could make its way into Martin County

WEST TEXAS - The Texas Department of State Health Services is urging the public to take precautions after 27 cases of shigellosis were reported in the West Texas towns of Fort Stockton and Pecos.
