BURNET - Gerald Glyn Brister, 79 of Lake Buchanan, Burnet, died June 11, 2020 at Kingsland Hills Care Center.
He was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Lampasas to parents Norman “Shug” Brister and LaVerne (Bagley) Brister. He attended SWTS, where he earned his Bachelor degree and later graduated from Texas A&M University with his Master’s of Education degree. He was a teacher, coach and administrator for many years. His career took him to places like Stanton, Rochelle, Christoval, Lometa, Santa Anna, and Llano. After retirement, he and Jean Ann moved to Lake Buchanan area. Gerald was an active man who loved sports and being outside.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and younger brother, Norman “Smokey” Brister
He is survived by his wife Jean Ann Brister of Burnet; daughters Debra Rathke (Bennie) and Deidra Brister all of Burnet; sister Barbara Allen (Bernie) of Lake Jackson; granddaughters Randi Gustafson (Carl), Jaci Rathke and Kami Rathke (Enrique Suarez); great-grandchildren Autumn Gustafson, Cason Duecker, Tripp Rathke, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Private Family Viewing was June 14 at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas. Graveside funeral service was June 14 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
