Newlin “Chuck” Charles James

MIDLAND - Newlin “Chuck” Charles James died Aug. 10, 2020 in Midland. Funeral service were Aug. 15 at the Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel in Big Spring with Kendall Tomlinson, minister of the Downtown Church of Christ in Stanton, officiating. Interment followed at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family received friends on Aug. 14, at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.

He was born Feb. 19, 1939 in Big Spring. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for both Martin and Midland County’s. He was also self employed as a welder and woodworker and he loved hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his loving wife, Virginia James; two daughters, Stephani Foreman and Melani Walton; two step sons, Randy Henson and wife Leta, and Ronnie Henson; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents O.C. and Blanche James; one daughter, Katie James; his great-grandson PFC Clayton Henson KIA in Iraq; and his step-daughter Glee Holcomb. Chuck will be deeply missed by all who cherished him.

The family suggests memorials to the Clayton Henson Memorial Scholarship Fund, % Permian Basin Area Foundation, 3312 Andrews Hwy, Midland, Texas 79703 or to a charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.
