Johnny Edwin Cox

LENORAH - Johnny Edwin Cox, born Aug. 26, 1957, in Brownwood, died on Sept.7, 2020 in Midland.

A visitation will be held Sept. 10, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.

A graveside service will be held Sept. 11, at 10 am at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton.

Mr. Cox was the longest active member of the Lenorah Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed refereeing 6-man football, hunting, coaching Little League, and watching western movies. Johnny “Dude” to his grandchildren, was best known for always having ice cream money in his shirt pockets and sharing it with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Cox; son Dylan Cox and wife Kinzi Jo; daughters Lacey Guzman and husband Shilo Guzman, and Sandi Cox; grandsons Cooper John Cox and Stetson Reed Cox; mother Sylvia Cox; brother Bryan Cox; nephew Brad and wife Christina Cox and their children, Julia, Isabella, Boyd, and Gabby; niece Misty and husband Kyle McMorries and their children Nayce and Cal; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Cox.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to be made to First National Bank Johnny Cox Scholarship Fund. Donations can be sent to First National Bank in Stanton at 119 N Saint Peter St, Stanton, TX 79782.

Services are under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home.
