Stanton wraps up non-district schedule

STANTON – The Stanton high school boys were in action this past week against McCamey and Rankin. The varsity Buffs split their games while the junior varsity suffered a loss. On Jan. 4 the varsity played McCamey in a onesided contest.

Junior high Buffaloes return to court after holiday break

STANTON – Junior high basketball is back in action in Stanton following the Christmas and New Year holidays. The seventh grade girls struggled following the lengthy break. Sonora handed the A team a 36-9 loss on Jan. 7.

Stanton runs over Iraan , Grape Creek

STANTON – The Stanton varsity girls basketball teams crushed Iraan and Grape Creek to finish off the 2020 sports year. First up was Iraan on Dec. 18 in Stanton. A slow start offensively put Stanton in a 18-15 hole at halftime.

Junior varsity Buffaloes impressive against Iraan

STANTON – Stanton’s junior varsity girls basketball team hosted Iraan on Dec. 18. The Buffaloes played exceptional defense holding Iraan to just eight points. The offense had a good night as well tossing in 31 points for the one sided victory. H. Stalvey scored a game high seven points and K.

Sterling City varsity, junior varsity best Grady

GRADY – Grady’s high school boys’ basketball teams were in action this week against the Sterling City Eagles. The varsity game ended up being highly competitive despite a lackluster start by Grady. The dismal first quarter allowed Sterling City a 14-4 advantage that Grady never overcame.

Buffaloes stampede Braves, crush Eagles

STANTON – The Stanton varsity boy basketball teams destroyed Iraan and Grape Creek to wrap up the 2020 sports year. On Dec. 18, Stanton gave Iraan a lecture in the finer aspects of basketball. By halftime Stanton had a 37-2 lead and after taking its foot off the gas coasted to a 60-19 victory.

Lady Cats drop district opener to Sands

GRADY - The Grady Lady Cats played two games over the holidays and opened up district play at home Tuesday against Sands. On Dec. 29th the Lady Cats hosted Wink and fell 52-36.

Forsan crowned king of Buffaloes after winning all three contests

FORSAN - The Forsan Buffaloes squared off with Stanton earlier this month in three roundball battles. The ninth grade contest was the closest of the three games. Forsan took a slim 14-10 lead at halftime and manages to hold on for the 23-22 victory. Jahir Galindo led Stanton with 10 points.

Buffaloes go to battle with Yellowjackets

STANTON – The Stanton basketball teams were in Kermit on Friday looking to swat the Yelowjackets. The varsity Buffs started strong with a 12-6 first quarter but Kermit exploded for 21 points in the second quarter for a 27-16 halftime.
