Talented Wink Wildcats upend visiting Grady

WINK – The Wink Wildcats used two huge quarters to hand Grady a 69-39 loss last Friday in Wink. Wink opened the game with a 20-9 run before slowing down and playing Grady even with both teams scoring 10 points in the second quarter giving Wink a 30-19 halftime lead.

Junior high Buffs open hardwood seasons

STANTON – The Stanton junior high basketball teams have been busy the past couple weeks. The seventh grade ‘A’ team started with a Nov. 16 game against Crane. Stanton’s defense was superb holding Crane scoreless for the first three quarters for an easy 28-6 victory.

GRADY – It was an exciting first couple days of basketball for the Grady Wildcat boys’ basketball teams with the varsity losing in the final minutes, the junior varsity getting a crushing win, and the junior high Cats splitting their two games.

GRADY – The Grady Lady Cats tasted victory and suffered defeat last week in games against Coahoma and Wink. Last Tuesday Grady fell to the Bulldogettes 54-33. Raina Short led Grady in scoring with 13 points.

MEADOW – The Stanton High School basketball teams were in Meadow Tuesday night for a non-district game against the Broncos. The junior varsity girls started the night strong for Stanton with double digit victory. Stanton took an early 14-6 lead by halftime and rolled to a 31-14 win.

Nine Buffaloes selected to all-districts teams

STANTON - Stanton Independent School District football coaches released the All-District 4-3A DII teams following the conclusion of each team’s 2020 regular season and playoffs.

Grady wins two more games

GRADY - The Grady Lady Cats went 2-1 prior to the Thanksgiving break defeating Slaton and Aspermont and losing on Saturday to Vega. Grady narrowly beat Slaton 41-38. Lead the team was Raina Short with 22 points.

Wildcats rally to beat Coahoma

COAHOMA - The Grady Wildcats used an 18 point fourth quarter to come from behind and beat Coahoma 48-42. The Bulldogs jumped out to a big 17-8 lead after the first quarter but Grady trimmed the gap to 27-26 by halftime.

Junior varsity Cats thump Forsan

FORSAN - The Grady Wildcats were too much for Forsan to handle as Grady opened its season with a 47-17 thrashing. The two teams looked evenly matched after the first frame a Grady had the slimmest 5-4 lead.
