GRADY - The Grady Wildcats football team had a relaxing open week and are now ready for the tough road that is District 6-1A Division I. The Wildcats (4-3) open district play by hosting No. 4-ranked Rankin (6-1), a team that Short said is one of the best teams in the state.

BUENA VISTA – The Grady Wildcats continue to improve with each passing week. The most recent game was a 58-22 victory over Buena Vista. The Longhorns entered the contest as 25-point favorites, but Grady accepted its role as underdog and crushed all expectations.

Junior high Wildcats come up short against Buena Vista

GRADY - Grady Junior High battled Buena Vista Thursday and fell short 48-12. Gunner Cherry led the Wildcats with 96 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Marcus Brown had 28 yards on the ground, Charles Deatherage added eight. Cherry led the defense with seven tackles.

STANTON – Stanton could not match Lubbock Roosevelt’s fire power last Friday and lost the District 4 opener 28-18. Despite another loss added to the Buffaloes record, Stanton played a magnificent game that should make the team and coaches proud.

Games more meaningful as district football starts for Stanton Friday

STANTON - After each playing five non-district opponents, Stanton and Lubbock Roosevelt open the District 4-3A Division II season this week. Stanton (2-3) hosts No. 20 Roosevelt (5-0) on Friday, at Buffalo Stadium with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.

Grady extends win streak with 62-14 thumping of Robert Lee

GRADY – The Grady Wildcats winning streak was extended to three games following a 62-14 homecoming victory over Robert Lee on Friday. Grady jumped out to a quick 20-0 lead off two Frankie Jimenez touchdown runs and a Caden Hayes touchdown run. Arath Alarcon converted one point after attempt.

ROBERT LEE - The Grady junior high football team traveled to Robert Lee last Thursday and lost a tough battle with the Dogies. Despite a big day on the ground from Gunner Cherry, the Wildcats couldn't hang with the Dogies. Cherry carried 15 times for 145 yards. Marcus Brown added 10 rushing yards.
