Grady destroys Bronte for first win

BRONTE – The Grady Wildcats booted the monkey off their backs with a 50-19 road victory over the Bronte Longhorns. With the triumph, Grady moves its record to 1-3 on the year. Bronte started the scoring midway through the first quarter with a five-yard touchdown run.

Junior High Buffs beat Forsan

FORSAN - The Stanton Middle School football teams got off to a hot start on Thursday, despite the cold and wet weather, opening the season with a pair of wins over Forsan.

MERTZON - The Grady Wildcats high school cross country teams competed in the Spring Creek Cross Country meet in Mertzon on Sept. 16. The Wildcats varsity boys finished fourth in the team standings. Hagan O'Donnell was the best runner on the course winning the varsity division with a time of 19:55.

Buffaloes roam at Crane Invitational

CRANE - Stanton seventh grade cross county runners competed in Crane last week. The girls team finished second. Larissa Marquez was the Buffs top runner with a third place time of 13:48.90. Allyson Barrera finished sixth running a time of 15:37.27.

RANKIN - The Grady Junior High cross country teams traveled to Ranking on Saturday for their first meet of the season. In the boy’s division, Aaron Cates led the way finishing 24th with a time of 15:47. He was followed by Truman Stack who placed 27th with a time of 15:59.

Sundown outlasts Stanton 34-26

SUNDOWN - The Sundown Roughnecks thwarted the visiting Stanton Buffaloes football team by a count of 34-26 in Friday's contest in Sundown. Stanton has had issues starting games off slow and rallying late.

Forsan runs past Stanton 27-6

FORSAN - In Friday's Battle of the Buffaloes rivalry, the Forsan Buffaloes football squad ran past the visiting Stanton Buffaloes by a score of 27-6. Forsan took and early 7-0 lead and held it until halftime.

Klondike overwhelms Grady 58-8

KLONDIKE - The crowd at Friday’s contest between the Klondike Cougars and the Grady Wildcats saw Klondike’s football team beat Grady by a score of 58-8. The Cougars were supposed to blow Grady out by halftime but the Wildcat’s played a near perfect first half to only trail 22-6 at halftime.
Stanton’s interior defense has been immovable the first two games allowing less than 100 yards rushing in each contest. Next to try will be Forsan on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Forsan.

Merkel storms back to clip Stanton 24-22

MERKEL – Stanton’s first week win was impressive but it’s week two 24-22 loss to Merkel was more impressive because of the Buff’s ability to rebound from adversity early on and still nearly pull off a victory on the road.

LORAINE – Grady had a good start and a strong finish, but Loraine had one mighty quarter giving them the edge in a 38-28 victory in Loraine on Friday. Grady started the game off strong with a quick eight points.
