Junior varsity Buffs split four district games

STANTON - Over the past two weeks Stanton’s junior varsity girls basketball team beat Colorado City and Coahoma but lost to Merkel and Clyde. Against Colorado City, Stanton cruised to a 43-30 victory. Solorzano had a game high 15 points and Fisher added 13.

Junior high Cats defeat Borden Co.

GRADY - The Wildcats crushed Borden County 40-18. Chapman Sims had a game high 16 points and Hunter McAnally and Cody Cates added nine points each. Kellen Young and Metejo DeAnda added three points each. “It was a great game for the young Wildcats after we lost to Borden Co.

Buffaloes fall to Wolves, upend Bulldogs

STANTON - The Stanton Buffaloes struggled against Colorado City, Merkel, and Clyde but beat Coahoma decisively. Against Colorado City, Stanton fell behind by four points at halftime and never recovered as the Wolves won 48-41. Jaxson Lindell led the Buffs in scoring with 10 points.

Wildcats destroy the competition, wins tournament

GRADY - The Grady 8th grade girls won the Grady junior high tournament on Saturday. They defeated Forsan B team 41-4. Tatum North 11, Elena Jimenez 10, Samantha Griffin 10, Kloe Brown 6, Kaylee Coody 2, Sindy Cruz 2. In the second game Grady defeated Midland TLCA 33-17.

Wildcats too much for Buffaloes, win 41-10

GRADY - The Grady junior varsity Lady Cats played host to the Stanton junior varsity last week. The Lady Cats jumped out to an early lead and never looked back coming away with a 41-10 victory. “I thought the girls did a great job,” said Grady coach Jacinda Langen.

Stanton Junior High takes on Coahoma, Colorado City

STANTON - Last Thursday the Stanton Junior High basketball teams took on Coahoma with the girls teams playing in Stanton and the boys teams playing in Coahoma. The seventh grade girls B team lost to Coahoma by just a few points with a final score of 19 - 16.

Grady battles Borden County, Garden City in district contests

GRADY – The Grady junior varsity basketball team had two challenging games in the previous weeks and was able to win one while falling in the other. On Jan. 17, the Wildcats battled Borden County. The Coyotes proved to be too much that night and walk away with a 46-24 victory.

Stanton falls to Anson

STANTON - Stanton was doomed from the start in last week’s district game with Anson. The Lady Buffs were not able to score any points in the first quarter allowing Anson to take a 12 point lead.

Wildcats crowned consolation champions in tournament

GRADY - The Grady 7th grade Lady Cats competed in the Grady Junior High Tournament this past weekend. The 7th grade Lady Cats struggled in the first round losing to Garden City 46-2, but bounced back defeating Forsan 22-13 in the second round.

Sands gets the better of Grady, twice

SANDS – Grady’s two junior high boy’s games against Sands on Jan. 20 were both narrow losses. The seventh grade Wildcats had a commanding 7-2 lead at halftime, but an outstanding quarter by Sands allowed the Mustangs to take a 10-9 advantage after the third quarter.
