Young Wildcats finish third

STERLING CITY – The Grady Junior High boys basketball team finished third at the Sterling City Tournament last week. Grady opened the tournament with a heart breaking 28-27 loss to host Sterling City. The Eagles hit a free throw with five seconds left on the clock to win the game.

Final chapter written on Lady Cats season

GRADY – The varsity Lady Wildcats finished their season on Tuesday with a 40-32 loss to Klondike. Delaney Saunders led the team in scoring with 11 points and Jessi Everett pitched in with seven.

Lady Wildcats claim third in Sterling City Tournament

STERLING CITY – Grady’s junior high girls played in the Sterling City Tournament on Jan. 30 and Feb. 1. Grady opened the tournament with a 25-21 loss to Water Valley. Scoring for the Wildcats were: Elena Jimenez 8, Samantha Griffin 7, Tatum North 4, and Briley Harrell 2.

Grady blows out Midland in final contest

GRADY – The junior high Grady Wildcats wrapped up their basketball season on Monday with a dominate 30-10 victory over Midland TLCA. Grady jumped out to a commanding 24-4 lead and cruised to the lopsided win. Kody Cates had a game high 12 points and Hunter McAnally added eight points.

Grady wins consolation title in Wildcat Tournament

GRADY - The Grady junior high “B” boys basketball team won the consolation title at the Grady Tournament on Jan. 25. Grady opened the tournament with a 41-10 loss to Garden City.

Stanton beats Merkel, twice

STANTON - Stanton’s sub varsity boys basketball teams beat Merkel last week in district hardwood action. The freshman boys team beat the Badgers convincingly 38-33. Andler and Armendarez led Stanton with 11 points a piece.

Wildcats place second in junior high tournament

GRADY - The Grady junior high “A” boys basketball team took second place at the Grady Junior High Tournament on Jan. 25. Grady opened the title run with a 63-2 victory over Forsan. Kellen Young scored 15 points followed by Hunter McAnally with 13 and Chapman Sims with 12.

Junior varsity Buffs fall to Merkel

STANTON - The junior varsity Lady Buffs hard a hard time with Merkel, losing 35-13. Scoring for Stanton was Juarez with five points, Raze four points, Rayos three points and Melendez one point.

Stanton’s district struggles continue

STANTON - The Lady Buffs basketball team had a rough couple weeks losing to Colorado City, Coahoma, Clyde, and Merkel. At the start of the week the Wolves beat Stanton 68- 17. Gabby Rodriguez led Stanton with nine points followed by Victoria Alvizo with two, Zoey Ruiz two and Hailea Vera Cruz one.

Grady destroys Midland 68-11

GRADY - Grady Lady Cats beat Midland TLCA 68-11 at home last Tuesday night. Grady improved their records to 21-6 overall and 3-3 in district. Grady was led by Delaney Saunders with 15 points and Maddy Garza added 12.
