Lady Kats split games with Irion County, Wink

– The Garden City Lady Kats junior varsity team split their games this week with Irion County and Wink.Against Irion County, the Lady Kats were hitting on all cylinders. They opened the game with a 13-5 run and held a 26-5 lead by halftime.

It was a busy week for the Grady girls’ programs

- The Grady varsity Lady Cats dropped a pair of district games this past week.The Lady Cats traveled to Sands last Friday looking to get a district road win. They did not get off to a great start falling behind 21-10 at half.

Grady teams finish first, third in junior high tournament

- The Grady Junior girls got started back with basketball right after the break. Grady hosted a junior basketball tournament and Grady JH Girls A team went 2-0 to be crowned the champions, while the Grady JH Girls B team finished 1-1 to capture 3rd place.

Lady Wildcats pick up two district wins

- The Grady Varsity Lady Cats started district play this past week picking up two wins to sit 2-0 in district play. The Lady Cats traveled to Loop to start the district season last Friday and came away with a 48-20 road win.

Wildcats win defensive battle with Bearkats

– Two talented teams took the court Tuesday night at the Wildcat Gymnasium in Grady, but instead of a high scoring thriller Grady and Garden City were locked in a defensive battle.After winning the tip, Grady would go on a 6-0 run through the first seven minutes of play.

Buffaloes fall to district rival Cohaoma, 50-28

– It was a rough night for the Stanton Buffaloes as they took on their district rival Coahoma Bulldogs.Coahoma asserted their dominance early opening the game with a 16-4 run. Stanton played much better the second period, but Coahoma still held a 27-14 halftime lead.

No. 4 Lady Kats continue win streak, add two more

– The No. 4 Lady Bearkats are deep in to the district basketball season and have positioned themselves at the top of the standings with two more victories last week.The Lady Kats picked up an easy 65-31 win over Water Valley.Karly Baker was phenomenal leading all scorers with 21 points.

- It was an exciting Monday afternoon at Bearkat Gymnasium in Garden City as the Bearkats returned to action following the Christmas Break to battle the Sands Mustangs.The extended holiday didn’t seem to hurt either team in the first quarter as both offenses found a good rhythm early.

Stanton community grants local soldier’s Christmas wish

- While many families get to spend Christmas and the holidays gathered together around a table full of food and laughter, others have to celebrate with someone missing. A grandchild, child, or sibling cannot attend the celebration because they are serving their country.
