GARDEN CITY -The future is bright in Garden City. The varsity girls are having a great season and the junior varsity is still undefeated after beating Bronte and Irion County.On Dec. 10, Garden City took on Bronte.

Junior high Lady Kats shine, struggle in recent games

GARDEN CITY – The Garden City junior high girls’ basketball team put on a dominant performance last week against San Angelo Cornerstone, but the pendulum swung the opposite way this week as the Lady Kats struggled with Water Valley.Against San Angelo Garden City was in control from the opening tip.

Varsity Lady Kats open district with win

– The No. 18 Lady Kats varsity basketball team picked up five more victories and opened the district campaign with a win.Garden City dominated Brady 47-13. Keegan Batla and Brylon Frerich led the Lady Kats in scoring with 11 points each and Karly Baker added nine points.

– The Gardy Lady Cats competed in the Garden City Tournament this past weekend and went 2-2 finishing as the Champions of the Silver Bracket.Grady lost their first two games to Rankin and Garden City but bounced back for a perfect day two beating Balmorhea and Buena Vista.

– The Stanton Buffaloes opened the district season at home on Tuesday with a heartbreaking loss to Odessa Compass.Everything was going good for Stanton in the first half as the Buffaloes built a strong 27-17 halftime lead.

- The Garden City Bearkats took on the visiting Irion County Hornets on Tuesday in the district opener for both teams. The two teams mirrored each other‘s first quarter offensive output scoring eight points each.

– The Grady junior high girls finished up their last game before the Christmas Break with a 29-10 victory over Midessa.The Lady Cats had a hard time scoring in the first half and could only manage to put 10 points on the board to go into the locker rooms at the half with a 10-8 lead.
