No. 5 Garden City Lady Bearkats stay undefeated

GARDEN CITY – The No. 5 Lady Kats of Garden City improved their record to 5-0 this week with wins versus Grape Creek and at Crane.The Lady Kats beat Grape Creek on Tuesday by a final score of 38-27. The team was paced by Karly Baker in scoring.

The JV Lady Kats had an outstanding week, kicking things off on Tuesday with a win against Grape Creek. The Lady Kats secured a 53-6 victory, showcasing balanced scoring across the team.

The Stanton Buffaloes played a near perfect three quarters, and made the plays late in the game to beat Alpine in the Class 3A Bi-District championship at Panther Stadium in Fort Stockton last Thursday.The Buffaloes opened the game with a 31-yd Jake Benedict run up the far sidelines.

– Lady Wildcats basketball is running full bore with all three levels playing games last week. The varsity Lady Cats picked up two wins over Wellman-Union and Buena Vista.Against Wellman, Grady opened the game with a 15-0 first quarter run and led 22-9 at the half.

– It was a heartbreaker Tuesday night at Greenwood High School as the Lady Buffs narrowly lost a hard-fought battle with No. 3 ranked Greenwood.The Rangerettes controlled most of the first quarter to build a 15-9 advantage but Stanton chipped away at the lead to trail 27-23 at halftime.

– Several area football players were honored this week with the release of some All-District lists.Grady and Garden City players were honored on the All-District 4-1A DI football team.

– Basketball season is underway at Garden City. The Lady Kats varsity improved their record to 3-0 this week with wins on the road at Eldorado and Reagan County while the junior varsity improved to 6-0 winning the Midland Christian JV Round Robin Tournament.

- The Grady Lady Wildcats kicked off the start of basketball season last week. The Lady Cats have played three games so far. The Lady Cats fell in their season opener to Lake View 32-27then bounced back in their second game defeating Iraan 51-18.
