Bearkats win Sterling City Tournament Crown

LUBBOCK - The Garden City Bearkats had a perfect three game run and won the Sterling City Tournament on Dec. 30 and 31. Garden City opened the tournament with a massive victory of McCamey and followed up with a 44-29 thumping of Westbrook.

SHINER

SHINER - The Shiner Comanches have won back-to-back Class AA Division I State Championships. On Wednesday, the Comanches defeated Hawley 47-12.

Bailey Delinger (14) knocks down a 15 foot jumper against the Odessa COmpass Lady Cougars. The Lady Bearkats crushed Odessa Compass on Monday 60-10.

Bearkats improving with each game

GARDEN CITY – The varsity Bearkats finished the Garden City Klassic Basketball Tournament with two wins and two losses. The tournament opener against Water Valley was a lastminute thriller.

Lady Buffaloes crush Compass

STANTON – The Stanton junior high girls’ basketball teams took on Odessa Compass Academy on Monday. Stanton’s seventh grade girls wasted no time starting the game with a 12-2 run and coasting to a 35-9 victory. Addison finished with a game high 15 points.

Junior high wildcats battle Borden County

BORDEN COUNTY – The Grady junior high basketball teams were in action on Monday night against Borden County. The Lady Wildcats ran into a very good Borden County. Borden County took a 30-2 lead at halftime and went on to win 52-7.

Injuries slow Buffs at Hooptown Classic

STANTON – The Stanton Buffaloes hosted the Pinky Jones Hooptown Classic this past weekend in Stanton. Stanton didn’t finish with a very good record over the weekend (1-3) but the Buffs are highly competitive despite battling several injuries and having multiple players not at 100%.

Lady Buffs crowned Hooptown champions

STANTON –Stanton High School was the site of last weekend’s Annual Pinky Jones Hooptown Classic. The Lady Buffs rattled off four wins to finish the tournament undefeated. Stanton opened the tournament against McCamey on Thursday.

Junior high Buffaloes start seasons strong

STANTON – The Stanton junior high boys’ basketball teams have had a busy December. The seventh grade ‘B’ team opened the year with a 28-5 win over Crane Scoring for Stanton were Campos 12, Garcia 6, Walker 5, Phillips 2, Lozano 2, and Bernal 1.
