Varsity Lady Cats start season strong

GRADY – The Grady varsity girls’ basketball team is off to a strong start winning two of its first three games. The Lady Cats opened the season at Rankin and took a 29-24 lead at halftime. The third quarter was back and forth with Grady slightly increasing its lead to 47-40.

Junior high, junior varsity basketball underway

GRADY - Grady’s sub-varsity girls’ basketball teams opened the season this week at home in the Wildcat Gynamsium. The junior varsity battled a talented Midland Classical team. After a close first quarter, Classical went on a 17-3 run to secure a 24-8 victory.

Varsity Wildcats split first couple games

GRADY – The Grady Wildcats varsity boys’ basketball team started the season with a loss to Midessa and a victory over San Angelo Cornerstone. Grady had a strong start taking a small 18-14 lead at halftime but a dismal second half allowed Midessa to steal a 44-39 victory.

RANKIN – Garden City’s football season came to an abrupt and undesirable end in the Class A Division I bi-district round of the state playoffs with a 70-69 loss to Van Horn at Red Devils Stadium in Rankin.

Stanton beats No. 3 Childress in bi-district thriller

FLOYDADA – The Stanton Buffaloes pulled off a massive upset in the Texas high school football playoffs on Thursday night, defeating No.3-ranked Childress, 39-34, in a Class 3A Division II bidistrict game at Taylor Stadium in Floydada.

STANTON - The junior high girls’ basketball season started off with a bang this week as Stanton won all four games against Crane. 7th grade A team-Stanton 43, Crane 2 7th grade B team-Stanton 31, Crane 0 8th grade A team-Stanton 17, Crane 10 8th Grade B team-Stanton 21, Crane 9.

PBYFL Junior Buffalo Updates

STANTON - The Permian Basin Youth Football League Junior Buffaloes have been competing in the playoffs the past couple weeks picking up several wins and some unfortunate losses. In the second round of the playoffs on Nov. 6: The Flag Buffaloes took on the Greenwood Outlaws.

Junior high Kats win district crown

GARDEN CITY – The Garden City junior high Bearkats and head coach Blake Gant dominated Rankin last Thursday 32-12, finishing the season with an 8-1 record and win the district championship.
