Garden City cross county gears up for district

GARDEN CITY- The Garden City Cross Country teams look to defend their District Title on October 11 as the regular season winds down. Garden City ran well at the Andrews Relays, an event that involves running a Mile and a Half twice, while your partner does the same.

Hermleigh ends Grady winning streak

HERMLEIGH– The Grady Wildcat’s two-game winning streak came to and end Friday night with a 5228 loss to No. 12 Hermleigh Cardinals. Charles Deatherage put the Wildcats on the board early with a scoop-n-score off a Cardinal fumble.

Grady distance runners doing well

LUBBOCK– Grady’s high school cross country teams were in Lubbock last week while the junior high went to Garden City. HS Girls Results Emma Parker 11th; Macie Stack 18th; Aislynne Mendoza 27th; Brynlee Madison 33rd; Raegan Dennis 35th; Sadie Wallin 41st; Rylan O’Donnell 59th.

MONAHANS - The Bearkats and Lady Kats traveled to Monahans last week and competed in the Monahans Fall Golf Tournament. The boys team was lead by Evan Fuchs who shot a 98. The Girls team finished 2nd and Rylee Wood finished 2nd medalist shooting an 82.

Garden City distance runners have good day at Irion County Cross Country meet

MERTZON - The Bearkats and Lady Kats cross county teams were in Mertzon last week for the Irion County Cross Country meet. The varsity girls finished fourth in the team standings out of 15 teams. There were 117 individual runner.

Eagles soar over Buffaloes 20-7

PECOS - The crowd at Friday's non-district contest between the Pecos Eagles and the visiting Stanton Buffaloes observed Pecos's football squad defeat Stanton by a count of 20-6. Stanton’s offense found the endzone once in the game when Jake Benedict connected with Bret Davis.

Bearkats thump Trinity to win homecoming

The homecoming crowd at Friday's non-district contest between the Garden City Bearkats and the visiting Trinity Chargers observed Garden City's football team defeat Trinity by a count of 51-23. The victory earns the Bearkats their first win of the season and now own a 1-2 record.

Stanton junior high distance teams run at Wink

- Stanton Junior high cross county ran in the Wink Invitational last weekend. The Stanton girls won the team championship led by Lauren Alvizo who won the individual gold.

Junior varsity Kats dominate Trinity

- The Garden City Bearkats junior varsity Football team was on the road Thursday night taking on the Midland Trinity Chargers unit. The opening drive for the Chargers ate up almost the entire first quarter before the Bearkats were able to force a turnover on downs.
