- Garden City junior high Bearkats squad traveled to Midland Trinity Thursday night. The Bearkats led the whole way en route to a 32-19 victory. Miles Colunga led the Bearkats with three rushing touchdowns, as well as throwing another to Trevor Garcia.

- Glasscock County 4-H brought home some big awards after a great weekend at the West Texas Fair and Rodeo Livestock Judging Contest in Abilene.

– After taking a week off, Stanton’s youth football teams were back in action on the road in Big Spring against the Howard County Hawks. The Buffaloes Flag team continues to improve but lost another 21-0. MVP of the game was Rylan Rodriguez.

- Grady High School girls finished 2nd overall and the high school boys were fourth overall at the Angelo State HS Stampede. Grady Lady Cats hadfive runners finish in the top 15 and were just four points behind first place Wall.

Forsan wins “Battle of the Buffaloes”

– Forsan won the Battle of the Buffaloes Friday night spoiling Stanton’s homecoming game 32-14 at Buffalo Stadium in Stanton. Forsan struggled running the ball all game as Stanton stacked the box to focus on stopping the run.

Grady crushed Kress for first victory

– The Grady Wildcats picked up their first win of the season in impressive fashion with a 5414 home victory over Kress last Friday. The Wildcats normally have a strong rushing attack but Kress must have focused on stopping the run because Grady only managed 50 yards on the ground.

Garden City falls to Gordon, 58-12

– The No. 1-ranked Gordon Longhorns beat the visiting Garden City Bearkats, 58-12 in Saturday's non-league bout at Abilene Christian High School. In their next game, the Longhorns face the Strawn Greyhounds on Sept 9. Gordon will attempt to advance on its 2-0 season record.

– The Stanton Buffaloes and Garden City Bearkats cross country seasons continued this week at the Eric Stinson Invitational at Comanche Trail Park in Big Spring.

Stanton drops home opener to Merkel, 34-7

- Merkel Badgers fans left the game giddy Friday as they saw their football team gain a win over the Stanton Buffaloes, 34-7 in a non-district test. With the triumph, Merkel improved its record to 2-0 on the campaign. The loss drops Stanton to 1-1 on the season.

STANTON– For the fifth consecutive season, the Stanton Buffaloes begin their football journey with a victory. On Friday, the Buffs defeated Grape Creek 42-6 to continue the streak while also earning first-year head coach Billy Rushing his first career victory.
