Stanton wraps up basketball season

STANTON - Stanton’s sub varsity basketball teams wrapped up the basketball seasons on Tuesday. The junior varsity beat Anson last Friday in electric fashion. After falling behind 13-9, Stanton rallied to take a 24-23 lead.

TSWA places Stanton’s Smith on honorable mention list

Stanton junior offensive guard Ashton Smith was recognized on the honorable mention offense of the 2019 Class 3A Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Football Team last week.

Stanton splits final games with Anson Colorado City

STANTON - The Stanton Buffaloes wrapped up their basketball season on Tuesday after splitting the final two games of the district season with Anson and Colorado City. The Buffs destroyed Anson 47-33 on Valentine’s night in Anson. Cody Beasley had a game high 17 points and Jaxon Lindell had 12.

Grady beats Midland, Sands to finish third in district; earns playoff berth

GRADY – With their backs against the wall, the Grady Wildcats had to win their final two games of the district season to have any hopes of making the playoffs. The first must win was a Valentine’s Day matchup with Midland TLCA.

Johnson, McDaniel win district CX debate title

CLYDE - Dylan Johnson and Jimmy McDaniel competed at the District Cross-Examination meet last week in Clyde. Seven teams competed for the district championship from Anson, Clyde, Coahoma, Colorado City, Jim Ned, and Stanton.

Grady's playoff hopes still alive

GARDEN CITY – Grady’s varsity boys basketball team continues to have an up and down district season with a Friday loss to Garden City and a Tuesday victory over Klondike. Against Garden City, the Wildcats started off strong taking a 21-17 lead by halftime.

Junior high Wildcats wrap up season

GRADY - Grady’s junior high girls wrapped up their basketball season with games against Garden City and Midland TLCA. The Bearkats won last Monday’s contest 27-16. Scoring for Grady were: Elena Jimenez 7, Tatum North 3, Samantha Griffin 4, and Nayce McMorries 2.

Grady roundball seasons end

GRADY – Grady’s high school girls basketball teams split with Stanton and Borden County in last week’s contests. The Grady junior varsity defeated the Stanton freshman 46-7. Skye Shock and Kenley Ivy led the Wildcats with 17 and 16 points respectively.

Wildcats crush Bearkats 34-21

GARDEN CITY – The Grady Wildcats junior varsity defeated the Garden City Bearkats with a decisive 34-21 victory Monday night in Garden City. Grady took control of the game early with an 18-10 halftime lead.

Stanton battles district foe Coahoma

STANTON – Stanton’s two junior varsity teams competed in two games earlier this month. The Lady Buffs hosted Coahoma on Feb. 4 and gave the crowd a game to remember.
