High school fall sport’s practices kick off in a couple weeks

WEST TEXAS - As summer starts to come to a close, area athletes will be getting ready to ramp up practices in preparation for the 2022 football and cross country season. This will be the first season with the new district alignments.

The Stanton cheerleaders

The Stanton cheerleaders put on a show during competitions at Universal Cheerleaders Association cheer and dance camp. Stanton Junior High is the Overall Camp Cheer Champion and Overall Game Day Routine Champion. Stanton Varsity won Superior Mascot and Overall Game Day Routine Champion.

CONSERVATION LEVELS & FISHING REPORT

Alan Henry FAIR. Water clear; 81 degrees; 7.47 feet low. Fish are in that summer pattern biting the same as we head into another hot Texas weekend. Crappie are good in 25-40 feet of water over trees with minnows. There is a great night bite under green lights in 35 feet of water.

Kagen McKnabb

Kagen McKnabb fields a hard hit grounder perfectly at the Coahoma All-Star Tournament. McKnabb was a key player in leading the 8U All-Stars to the title.

I’m going to just leave this here . . . Smart plays helped lead the Buffs to victory in the Coahoma 12U All-Star Tournament. The Buffs were down 7-1 and battled back in the final inning to win the title 8-7.

Area 2 Leadership camp

Area 2 Leadership camp wrapped up over the last week with recreation, District Officer meetings, and Camp Awards. Glasscock County ISD FFA members Walton Marshall and Shelby Braden were selected as two of the Top 15 Outstanding campers out of 300 participants.

Stanton 10U All-Star team

Stanton 10U All-Star team had a good summer winning the Coahoma Tournament two weeks ago and finishing fourth in the Lamesa Tournament last weekend.

8U Buffaloes look unbeatable in first tournament

COAHOMA - The Stanton Buffaloes 8U all-star baseball team destroyed each team they played against in the Coahoma All-Star Tournament last weekend. First up on the schedule were two pool play games on Saturday. Stanton opened with a perfect 21-0 performance against Roscoe.

Stanton, Coahoma dominate all-district selections

STANTON - After a spectacular run by the Coahoma Bulldogettes in the softball state playoffs, the All-District selections were released late last week. Coahoma dominated the playoffs to finish as the Class AAA State Runner-Up.

10U Buffaloes run the table during all-star weekend

COAHOMA - The Stanton Buffaloes 10U all-star baseball team crushed their competition in the Coahoma All-Star Tournament last weekend en route to a perfect 4-0 performance and the title of champions. Stanton cruised through the first two pool play games earning a top seed for Sunday’s bracket play.
