STANTON - Senior linebacker Eddie Wittenbarger and senior defensive back Miguel Moreno represented Stanton as honorable mention of the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A allstate football team that was released last week.

STANTON – The Stanton Buffaloes have clinched a playoff spot with their two most recent victories and can claim District Runner-Up on Friday. Last week Stanton took on the struggling Sonora Broncos.

Junior high Buffs sweep games

STANTON – The Stanton Junior High Buffaloes had some good performances against Coahoma and Sonora picking up four nice wins. The seventh grade A team beat the Bulldogs 32-28. Tagen Salgado and Brian Dominguez led the Buffs in scoring with eight points each and Jayden Hinojosa added six points.

Wildcats take down Garden City

GARDEN CITY – The Grady junior high Wildcats used a relentless defense to beat Garden City in district basketball action on Jan. 31. Grady opened the game with an impressive 13-4 run and keep Garden City scoreless in the final quarter for a 30-9 victory.

GRADY – The Lady Wildcats had a rough district run the last few games but managed to finish the week on a high note clinching a playoff spot with a 4-5 district record. On Jan. 28, Grady hosted on No. 1 Sands for the start of the second round of district play.

Wildcats poised to win district title

GRADY – The Grady Wildcats picked up a pair of huge district victories over Garden City and Borden County to sit alone at the top of the district standings. Against Garden City, the two teams opened the game with solid offensive possessions running the score up to 24-23 by halftime.

Wildcats rally to beat Cougars

KLONDIKE – The Grady Wildcats junior varsity basketball team needed a perfect fourth quarter to rally for a victory over the Klondike Cougars last week in Klondike. On Feb. 1, Klondike took an early 6-2 lead over Grady and held on to lead 11-7 by halftime.

Late buckets lift Wildcats past talented Garden City

GARDEN CITY – Grady headed south last week to battle a good Garden City team. The first three quarters were back and forth with neither team getting any real advantage. Finally, in the last quarter, Grady was able to knock down a couple more shots and edged the Bearkats 17-12.
