Wildcats poised to win district title

GRADY – The Grady Wildcats picked up a pair of huge district victories over Garden City and Borden County to sit alone at the top of the district standings. Against Garden City, the two teams opened the game with solid offensive possessions running the score up to 24-23 by halftime.

Wildcats rally to beat Cougars

KLONDIKE – The Grady Wildcats junior varsity basketball team needed a perfect fourth quarter to rally for a victory over the Klondike Cougars last week in Klondike. On Feb. 1, Klondike took an early 6-2 lead over Grady and held on to lead 11-7 by halftime.

Late buckets lift Wildcats past talented Garden City

GARDEN CITY – Grady headed south last week to battle a good Garden City team. The first three quarters were back and forth with neither team getting any real advantage. Finally, in the last quarter, Grady was able to knock down a couple more shots and edged the Bearkats 17-12.

Garden City UIL takes second in McCamey

McCAMEY - Garden City’s UIL teams competed at the McCamey Academic Meet on Jan. 29 and won the 2nd Place Sweepstakes. Math and Science Events are ranked by grade level and overall.

Bearkats land five on All-West Texas Team

WEST TEXAS - The San Angelo Standard Times announced their All-West Texas 6-Man Football team last week. Leading the way with a superlative selection is Defensive MVP Owen Seidenberger. Mason Walker was selected at Wide Receiver. Sebastian Balcazar was chosen to the team at Running back.

Garden City teams too much for Midland TLCA

GARDEN CITY – The Bearkats and Lady Bearkats had stellar performances Tuesday night against district foe Midland TLCA. The Bearkats improved to 3-2 in district play with a 64-43 win.

Stanton takes down Coahoma keeping playoff hopes alive

STANTON – The Buffaloes ended the first round of district play with a loss to Reagan County, but started the second round with an exciting victory over Coahoma. Reagan County played a perfect game taking a 35- 15 halftime lead and cruising to a 58-27 victory to remain unbeaten in district play.

Victory over Coahoma moves Lady Buffs into tie for district lead

STANTON - The Lady Buffaloes avenged an upset loss from early January in convincing fashion Friday night. The hard-fought contest was close throughout, but Stanton pulled away late leading to a 47-39 victory over Coahoma and moved the Lady Buffs into a tie for first place in District 5-3A.

Junior high Lady Buffs battle Coahoma, Odessa

STANTON – The Stanton Junior High girls basketball teams have been busy the past couple days with games against Coahoma and Odessa Compass. On Jan. 24, Stanton took on the Coahoma Bulldogs. The seventh grade ‘A’ team started the game strong and held on to win 22-17. Addison C.

Alberts, Orona, Lozano take top lifter awards at Coahoma Invitational

COAHOMA – Stanton’s powerlifters traveled to Coahoma last week and competed at the Coahoma Invitational. The Buffaloes finished sixth in the team standings. Payden Alberts took first place in the 308 division with a combine total of 1580 pounds. He was named Best lifter on the Heavy Platform.
