Eight Wildcats chosen to all-district teams

GRADY - Grady Independent School District football coaches released the All-District 6-1A teams following the conclusion of each team’s 2020 regular season and playoffs. Rankin won the district championship and Garden City was district runner-up.

Grady splits first two roundball games

GRADY - The Grady Wildcats basketball team has already experienced the highs of winning and the lows of defeat. In the first game of the season, the Wildcats crushed Loop 63-21. The final outcome was never in doubt as Grady built a 29-5 lead by halftime.

Lady Wildcats capture first victory

CRANE - The Grady varsity girls basketball team had no mercy for the bigger Crane Golden Cranes last Saturday in Crane. Grady’s defense was much improved and the Lady Wildcats worked well as a team winning their first game of the season 57-31.

Junior high Cats fall to Sands

SANDS - Both of Grady’s junior high boys basketball teams were in action last week against the Sands Mustangs. The Cats A team was neck-and-neck with Sands the entire game but a strong second quarter propelled Sands to a 19-16 victory.

Idalou, Rankin, Garden City continue on the road to a state championship

WEST TEXAS - Seven teams from Stanton’s and Grady’s districts advanced to the UIL Football State Playoffs. After just one week of action, that number was drastically cut to three. From Class 3A District 4, Idalou was the lone survivor with a 62-35 victory over Friona.

Stanton wraps up grid iron season with loss to Reagan County

BIG LAKE – Stanton narrowly lost to Reagan County Friday night, 35-26, in District 4-3A Division II action at James H. Bird Memorial Stadium in Big Lake. Stanton fell to 2-8 overall and 0-5 in district. Reagan County improved to 4-6 and 1-4 in the season finale for both teams.

Grady puts bow on football season with 52-7 blowout of Midland TLCA

LENORAH – Grady ended its season on a high note, beating Midland TLCA, 52-7, Friday night in District 6-1A Division I action at M.W. Tunnell Field in Grady. Grady improved to 5-5 on the season and picked up its first win in district at 1-2, while Midland TLCA fell to 3-7 overall and 0-3.

Aaron, area cross country teams compete at Region I meet in Lubbock

LUBBOCK – Grady’s Logan Aaron and several teams and individual runners from across the area competed in the UIL Region I-1A cross country championships held Monday at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock. Two female Garden City runners finished in the top 40.

Junior high Wildcats save best performance for last

GRADY - Grady Junior High got their first win of the season Thursday versus Midland TLCA. Gunner Cherry led the way with 281 yards on 12 carries. He also added a 50 yd kick return to account for six total touchdowns. Marcus Brown had 36 yard rushing.
