Turnovers cost Garden City against May; Bearkats face No. 1 Westbrook this week

MAY – The No. 3 May Tigers used a huge first quarter to take a commanding lead and never looked back beating No. 4 Garden City 6334 on Friday at Tiger Stadium. Garden City struck first scoring on its opening drive with a 10-yard touchdown run by Preston Dehlinger for a 6-0 lead.

Bearkats host duel meet with Westbrook

GARDEN CITY The junior high Bearkats competed in a duel meet with Westbrook last Tuesday. For the junior high girls, Addison Goodwin the the Lady Kats with a 4th place time of 15:56. Coming in 6th was Sophie Sullivan running a time of 16:21 and placing 8th was Claire Eggemeyer running a 16:29.

Bearkat cross country gets stronger each week

Kress too much for Grady, wins 72-22

KRESS – The Grady Wildcats continue to play hard each week but once again came up short losing to Kress 72-22. Marcus Brown led the Wildcats offense throwing 2 of 4 passes for 48 yards and two interceptions. Hunter McAnally was 1 of 2 for 11 yards.

Bearkats shred Chargers, set sites on Tigers

MIDLAND – The No. 4 Garden City Bearkats had a perfect performance last week destroying the Trinity of Midland Chargers 61-0. Garden City made sure there would not be a third quarter as the Bearkats scored eight times in the first quarter.

Forson once again best Buffalo team in Basin

FORSAN – The Battle of the Buffaloes was once again won by the Black and White as Forsan beat Stanton 34-14 Friday night at Buffalo Stadium in Forsan. Forsan used a big first quarter to take a 13-0 lead and went up big, 27-0 after scoring two more touchdowns in the third quarter.

Junior varsity Bearkats thump Yellowjackets, 34-18

MENARD - Thursday night, the Garden City junior varsity football team traveled to Menard and came away with a convincing win to move their record to 2-0 on the year. The Bearkats defense did not allow the Yellowjacket’s air attack to get going.

Eagle’s offense proves too much for Wildcat’s defense

O’DONNELL – The O’Donnell Eagles defended their home field last Thursday beating the Grady Wildcats 54-26. At times, Grady looked unstoppable with huge offensive gains and big defensive stops.

Rivas captures 2nd at Lubbock Tournament

LUBBOCK - Kyler Rivas, a sixth grader at Greenwood Middle School participated at the Burgess-Rushing Tennis Center Tournament and fought a tough opponent from Abilene to take the runner up spot, Saturday, August 27th in Lubbock.
